My Passport

After finishing my graduation in 2005 I thought of applying for my Paspport. I visited the passport website at passport.nic.in and downloded the application form. I filled in the application form and went to the passport office at Sashtri Bhavan, Nungambakkam. The officials over there informed me to come up early in the morning at 9:00. So, I visited the Speed post center (St.Thomas Mount) and ppl. over there told that they need to submit only thieir application form. So, I had to purchase thier form which costed me additional Rs.20/- and after verification they issued me the receipt.

After a month a SI from Chrompet Police Station visited my house. Since, I was not in the house, he told me to visit the station. After my company hours I visited the chrompet police station, I waited for an half hour before that SI came to the station. After verification I left the station. In a month time I received my Passport through the Speed Post Courier.

First Project for Fourvees

Fourvees was started one fine day (2005 Vijayadasami day). So, far it has an incomplete website (a blog http://fourvees.blogspot.com) and have registered the domian at (http://www.fourvees.tk) [ Yes a free domain ]. My company deals with Open Source software with the agenda ready. I was dealing with small projects which will have a great impact for any persons life. Some products that are still in the beta stage include

* LibPro Online [ Still in design ]
* AddressPro
* Boogle
* AlertPro [Still in design stage - yet to be implemented]

All these products use and supports Open Softwares. With help from my chittappa I got an order from a Library at Anna Nagar. LibPro was implemented in a record time of 15 days and was placed in the live systems. With some small bugs the system went fine. These bugs are being rectified as and when it occurs.

I use my free time to produce these products apart from my company hours.

My First Job

After attending quite a few no. of interviews I got placed at Laser Soft Infosystems as Software Engineer. Before, placing I attended interviews at

During my interview at Laser Soft, they asked me questions in Java and in banking domain. I managed to answer them. There were 4 members in the interview panel (HR Head, Sr. Mgr. HR, Sr. Technical & Domain Expert). They asked questionsfrom J2EE (RMI, Servlets), XML and SOAP. After the interview after a few days there was call from them telling to pick my Offer letter. The offer letter stated that the last day for joining is 7/1/2006, but I joined there on 10/12/2005 (why waste time and my salary).

At Laser Soft I was put in the COBOL team, in which I have null experience. On the first day, I was asked to sit in some other person's cabin by my PM till he is back from Hyderabad. I was given a system running Windows 98 SE having a RM COBOL 7.0. I was practicing using the language / user manual from the Liant's website. My colleagues were really helpfull. They told to practice me on their standards (since it is an ISO 9001:2000) company. Basically, we deal with banking products. After a few days, I was given my login to the Novell server. One day, I received a call from the HR dept. stating that I had not filled my timesheet. My colleagues helped me in doing that.

After a few days (2/1/2006) I was put up into training. I was amazed to see that there are 23 ppls taking the training with me and this no. keeps increasing day by day.
